Does anyone else ever feel like they are doing Christmas wrong because they aren’t always in the Christmas spirit 24/7 during December? I’m not sure why we expect to be completly different and feel a different way just because of one holiday. But I think it’s safe to say that we can all get in the holiday spirit for moments here and there. Life is full of ups and downs, and that is the same when it comes to holiday cheer.
If I need an extra dose of Christmas Cheer, I will do the following (and since I don’t like socializing, this list is perfect for social distancing. Wasn’t done on purpose!):
Drive around at night looking at Christmas lights. I live in Arizona, so it’s not the coldest. I’ll roll down all the windows and let the chill in, then turn on the heater for a bit and let it get all toasty.
Draw something Christmassy. This year it was the Grinch, Cindy-Lou-Who, and a couple of Reindeer. Oh, and Olaf and Sven in Christmas garb!
Add more Christmas decorations to my home. The stuff I put up a couple of weeks is no longer special and has no turned into the regular decor. You know what I mean, when it just starts blending in.
Turn on Christmas music. I listen to Christmas music sparingly until it gets very close to the actual day. Otherwise, I get burnt out on the stuff.
Watch cheesy Christmas movies, or even not-so-cheesy ones. My mom and I usually watch either Die Hard or Lethal Weapon each year. And for some reason, Lord of the Rings puts me in a holiday mood. That one doesn’t make sense to me, but I’m rolling with it!
Baking. I normally dislike baking. It takes forever and makes sooooo many dirty dishes. But it’s worth it during the holiday season! I even baked bread this past weekend. With yeast and everything (can you feel the pride that is oozing off me?)
What do you do to get into the Christmas spirit?
